Making up representations

It is important to know through which mechanisms representations are made up if one wishes to operate on them. Here are a few :

- Switching signifieds:

in his or her speech, while using one signifier, the subject switches from one signified to another, from which the representation originates. Example.

 - The association chain.

While speaking, the subject successively uses a number of signifiers related to a single theme, from which the representation originates and which introduces it. Example.

- Metaphor.

The representation appears as a metaphor with its various elements. Example.

- Mimicking speech.

The representation appears in the speech structure itself. Example.
